Relocating To Thailand

By sea or air - We can help if you're moving to Thailand.

Appleyards of Hull can offer both large and small shipments to Thailand. A door to door service is offered on both dedicated sea containers and wooden crates for smaller volumes.  If a faster service is needed on smaller items then air shipment is also offered to most major destinations in Thailand.

Importing Household Effects to Thailand

Importing Household and related effects into Thailand can be imported free of duty providing they have been owned by you longer than six months.  You can only have one consignment by sea and one consignment by Air to gain duty free entry. Returning Thai residents must have been overseas more than twelve months.

You must be in Thailand when the goods arrive to assist with custom clearance.

Restricted and Prohibited Items for Thailand

It is recommended you do not include the following within your shipment:

Any firearms, weapons or ammunition as these are strictly prohibited.
Inflammable goods and substances
No plants and plant material.
No objectionable material or material likely to cause offence.
No Alcohol, narcotics and dangerous goods.

Transit Times for Thailand

LCL consignments (crated small volumes) can take between 7 - 9 weeks door to door

Full containers can take 5 to 6 weeks from door to door and can be shipped through the major ports of Bangkok or Laem Chabang

Please note the above are estimated times and these can vary depending on weather conditions, port congestion or volumes of traffic to be shipped

Customs Clearance in the Thailand

Please allow 7 to 10 clear working days from the arrival of your goods for custom clearance.  All normal custom clearance charges are included in your relocation cost, but any additional custom charges or duties applied upon arrival, will be met by our overseas agent who will seek reimbursement from you prior to delivery.

Destination Services in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket

Once your goods have arrived and gone through custom clearance, you will be contacted by our agent who will arrange a convenient date for the delivery of your goods to your new home.

Top Tip When Moving To Thailand

Ensure you have the correct documentation before organising your shipment and that you have the correct visa in place.  Our agent in Thailand will make contact with you before arrival of your goods to request you complete the necessary custom documentation to provide a trouble free clearance and delivery.  Please ensure you present a copy of your passport and visa if applicable.

Should you wish to insure the goods in transit you will need to ensure you have the Marine Insurance proposal form back with our team back here in the UK prior to the shipment of the goods.  Ideally you need to be in receipt of your certificate before the removal crew handle your goods.
