How to Pack Books

How To Pack Books

Our expert guidance on how to pack books.  People often panic when it comes to packing away books when moving home decorating or putting them away for storage.

Common issues are what size box to use or how many books they should put into a box so as not to make it too heavy to move.

How To Pack Books

The key to packing books is to start with the right sized carton. Ideally you need what is known in the removal industry as a "book box". Typically this is a small carton that does not exceed 2 cuft. If you start with this type of box it can be filled to the top and this is something you are encouraged to do. If the box is completely filled it will not crush if other boxes are placed on top of it.

Should you only have larger cartons then pack then half full with books at the bottom, then fill to the top with lighter items such as towels or bedding. Book cartons can be purchased from the packing materials shop at Appleyard's of Hull for £2.00 each

Top Tips When Packing Books

To prevent damage to their spines it is better to pack books on their end rather than flat
