How To Pack Glassware

How To Pack Glassware

Appleyards guide on how to pack glassware. Glassware can range from normal everyday glasses to Crystal wine glasses or it might even be that family heirloom!

We know that some pieces are more delicate and fragile than other pieces and with these items more care is needed - and that is exactly what we will provide if we pack your belongings..

Consider This When Packing Glassware

Using the correct carton is important. A large carton is the most widely used for packing fragile items such as glassware. Once your carton is made up place a layer of crumpled up paper on the bottom of the box to act as a cushion.

For everyday glass, take each item piece by piece and use two separate sheets of paper to wrap them.

Then start with your heavy items and place them into the bottom of the carton. When you have filled the first layer repeat the procedure with the crumpled paper. This will create a cushion between each layer of glassware. Keep repeating this process until the carton is almost full then top it off with crumpled paper to protect the Glassware at the top of the box. Please be aware of the weight of the box, Glassware can be very heavy, especially items like Lead Crystal.

For very expensive or ornate pieces consider using poly chips to pack around each item.

Top Tips When Packing Glassware

When packing glass bowls or dishes pack them so they are stood up on their ends, this is the strongest part. Glasses should also be packed stood upright.
